The New Abnormal

The Strokes

The Strokes last album was 7 years ago, but the wait has definitely been worth it. Like the name of the album suggests, the sound of this thing is very distinct and abnormal. Listening to this album, it feels like the were freeing themselves into writing to the songs rather than to the audience. Little things like the background jargon at the end of a few tracks and the weird whaling guitars that'll occasionally show up add so much atmosphere and character to the record as a whole. It's so wild, so wacky, and it works so well. Make no mistake, this is distinctly a Strokes album through and through; but it's also something new that new and old fans alike will enjoy.

Notable tracks:

The Adults Are Talking, Brooklyn Bridge To Chorus, Bad Decisions, At The Door, Ode To The Mets
